Cat5 cable, also called Ethernet cable, is generally used in telephone and network infrastructures. Cat5 cable contains 4 pairs of unshielded twisted copper wires. RJ45 connector must be used for termination of the cable.
How to choose the right Ethernet cable?
Start with the speed of your home internet connection. If you have Gigabit internet (1 Gbps), an old Ethernet cable will hold you back. If you have a slower connection - maybe 10 or 20 megabits per second - it should be at least Cat 5 or higher .....
